expansion Follow Us The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the Deputy Director of the Mumbai Registrar of Companies for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore to prepare a report in favour of an under-investigation company. Following an FIR against Deputy Director Sai Shankar Landa on Tuesday, the central agency on Wednesday carried out searches at his premises in Mumbai and his native place in Visakhapatnam, they said. The CBI took this action on the complaint of a businessman whose company was under investigation by ROC Mumbai. The FIR states that it is alleged that a bribe of Rs 2 crore was given to prepare a report in favor of his company in the ongoing investigation at ROC Mumbai. "The allegations mentioned in the complaint have been carefully corroborated in the presence of panch witnesses on April 23, 2024, which reveal that Sai Shankar Landa, Deputy Director, Registrar of Companies, Mumbai, after negotiations has agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 30-35 lakh from the complainant," the CBI FIR alleged. After verification, the CBI obtained sanction to proceed against Landa under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and registered a case.
