Congress alleges that Lalwani created pressure for not taking action on the temple and illegal construction. City Youth Congress workers reached Lalwani's residence on Saturday with a shroud. On the way, the police had put up barricades to stop the workers. There was a minor clash between the workers and the police personnel. Later the Congress workers were arrested. Politics has started in BJP and Congress regarding the death of 36 people due to the collapse of the stepwell's roof. Congress leaders say that the office-bearers of the temple trust are supporters of MP Shankar Lalwani and at his behest, Lalwani had pressurized the officers of the Municipal Corporation not to take action. Police officials say that the protest was being held without permission, so the activists were arrested.
